Patrol officers patrol assigned areas to maintain order, prevent illegal activity, enforce laws, and protect the community and citizens. Most police officers will begin their careers as patrol officers, directing traffic, writing tickets, investigating accidents and crimes, and responding to calls for help.

We are looking for a responsible, dedicated individual to join our police department as a patrol officer. Your responsibilities will include enforcing laws and ordinances, regulating traffic, controlling crowds, preventing crimes, and arresting those who violate the law.

To be a successful patrol officer, you should have an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and city laws and ordinances, as well as modern policing principles. Ultimately, a top-notch patrol officer is focused and detail-oriented, but also empathetic.

Patrol Officer Responsibilities:

• Patrolling assigned areas on foot or horseback or by car or bicycle, and being on the lookout for suspicious or illegal activity.
• Performing on-the-scene investigations.
• Helping people in trouble and rendering other public services.
• Issuing citations, serving arrest warrants, and arresting people on misdemeanors and felony charges.
• Pursuing fleeing suspects on foot.
• Handcuffing and searching arrested persons and reading them their rights.
• Immediately responding to reports of emergencies or possible crimes and offering the necessary assistance.
• Regulating traffic, enforcing traffic laws, investigating traffic accidents, and assisting motorists in need.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with community members.
• Completing all necessary paperwork and providing testimonies in court.

Patrol Officer Requirements:

• Previous experience in law enforcement, the military, or contact security may be advantageous.
• Training and certification in firearms, first aid, and CPR.
• Knowledge of defensive and arrest tactics, federal, state, and city laws and ordinances, as well as modern policing principles.
• Good record-keeping skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent physical strength and stamina.
